My approach to therapy is grounded in the worth of each individual — of you.
Your unique experience is the center of my process. We all have stories that deserve to be heard. I won’t try to “fix” you or your grief. Instead, I’m here to listen to your story and help you find the answers you already have inside of you.
It’s likely that you’re here because you want to feel “normal” again. You wish the loss had never happened to you, or that you could have done something to prevent the loss. You wish you could stop feeling so much pain.
You want to enjoy your day – to laugh and really feel the joy that laughter used to bring to you.
You wish you could spend time with family and friends and actually feel close to and comforted by them.
You wish your life had not changed.
You just want back what you lost.
Instead, you are experiencing emptiness and pain.
You have to get up and pretend that you are fine — that you’re “good to go!” — when you’re anything but.
On top of that, you are experiencing your own judgment and self-loathing for not living up to society’s standards for how to grieve.
Let me be the first to tell you that your grief, however you are grieving, is valid.
You are allowed to take it at your own pace — and to not be okay. And it’s also okay to want to feel better — to navigate through your grief and maybe even find happiness on the other side.
I’m here to help you take that first step.
Other issues may come up in counseling as we are working through your grief. That’s okay. Grief, trauma, depression, and anxiety are all bound up together when you’ve experienced a loss.
Please know that no loss or life change is too “small” to result in grief — and I offer individual therapy to help you with whatever is making your daily life a challenge:
Bipolar Disorder
Chronic Illness & Chronic Pain
Divorce, Breakups & Relationship Issues
Loss of a Loved One to Suicide
Pet Loss
Identity Loss
Loss of a Home or Job
Retirement or Elder Issues
Life Transitions
Marital and Premarital Issues
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
Self Esteem & Self Worth
Stress
LGBTQ+ Issues
We are complex beings, and nothing about our lives can be separated out into individual parts. I am here to treat you as a full person, no matter how complex or winding your path through grief may be.
The first step toward therapy is the hardest — especially when a loss has made each day a struggle. To help you get started, here is a look at what you can expect once you reach out:
First, we’ll schedule a free 20-minute consultation. If you feel like we’re a good fit after the consultation, next we’ll move on to scheduling your first full session.
The first full session is called an intake appointment. You can request your intake appointment via my client portal for a time that works in your schedule.
I will confirm your intake appointment within 24 hours of your request and send you an email or text prompting you to complete your first client forms.
Your intake session will be a little longer than your future, regular appointments, so I can learn about your background and we can get to know each other.
Our first therapy appointment is also an opportunity for you to ask me any questions you have and set up a regular appointment schedule going forward. I know these appointments can be hard to remember, so you’ll get email or text reminders for each session, depending on which you prefer.
To make grief counseling more accessible for everyone who needs it, I am a therapist who takes insurance. I am credentialed with the following insurance providers:
BlueCross and BlueShield
Medicare
Optum
For both in-network and out-of-network clients, I accept cash, Mastercard and Visa credit cards, and Health Saving Accounts (HSAs) for payment.
I offer in-person and online therapy at the following prices:
Intake Session: $150.00
Regular Sessions: $120.00
